August 2007
Regular
Rides
A great ride of over 20 scooters from the Piazza in Bedford to the BBQ in July (I believe) seeing as I was lumbered with the rugrats and 'er indoors
August won't have an actual monthly ride as there is more than enough on, and if you don't know of any of it then you're either not keeping up to date online or reading scootering at all. Roll on 2 for the Roade, the Isle of Wight, Mersea Island, etc, etc.
The Pilgrims Annual BBQ..
.. was a great success and a big thanks go to all those that helped in its fruition with special thanks to Big Rob, Bill, Quincy, Rachel, the band and of course the staff of the Five Bells!
The band went down a storm I think though I know there were some mutterings as they weren't to everyones taste, but then nor is every scooter eh? We dare to be different That's why I'm a Mod see!
Scooters on the Common
Another one that I missed but I believe that there was a great turnout for it and all had a good time. Mind you, Im not sure how some managed to get away with eating fish and chips inside the pub while listening to the live band, cheeky oiks!

Roade Rally
Yes, after last years phenomenal success, it's back on.
2 for the Roade, organised by the Tin Soldiers, NLVSC and Rogue Unit, is on this weekend the 10th, 11th and 12th of August.
Tickets in advance are £8, or on the gate are £10 and includes camping, music both nights and 2 live bands. There's also the usual gymkhana, beer and banana, five a side, tug of war, burger van (last years was quite good) cheap beer, a ride out and on and on. Where else will you get that kind of fun for a tenner! |
Donnie and Woody are leaving somewhere near Bedford on Friday about 4pm and Quincy and Biggles will be going later about 6 from Biggleswade area so have a chat at Henlow with them or contact them about meeting up. There's also loads going Saturday morning so ask about.
Isle of Wight
Yes, the world's largest scooter rally is looming once again with only a couple of weeks to go! It's worth finding out who's going at what time and from which ferry as there has been some chat in the scootering press recently about boycotting Wightlink due to their extortionate pricing whereas Red Funnel are doing an offer at the moment. For example, as of today (9th August) Red funnel are quoting me online £24.50 return for me and scooter, whereas Wightlink are quoting £28.50.
And yes, there is a contingent of Pilgrims leaving at 4am!!
Mersea Island
Only the week after the IOW is this increasinly popular rally and I know there's a lot of Pilgrims interested in going, so start organising meets for the run down and don't forget it's camping only for you softies!!
