June 2007

Regular Rides
Last months ride was all the way to the Cotswold's to try and beat the world record of most scooters in motion at one time but it appears that an impatient car driver cut in at about 420 scooters so that's put paid to that.
However that didn't spoil what was a great ride there and back, with Donegal, Mr. Chips, Maz, Greg, Dodge and Jo all being successful. Unfortunately, Pete didn't make it due to a split in his downpipe and managed to tease the scooter home to Letchworth from Milton Keynes. Fair play though.

June's ride is this Sunday, yes I know it's short notice and I apologise. It'll be to Fairlands Valley Way to meet the NHSC to the Scooters in the Valley then onto a local meeting place for some live music and a tipple of your choice. Leaving time from the Piazza is 10.30am!

Luton Festival of Transport
Unfortunately events overtook me and I ended up having to go home and sort the rugrats out! However, I know from many that attended that it was a great day with many different forms of old and newer transport, from scooters to tanks! Thanks too to the Luton Lambretta Club for the invite as well as organising some free entry to the event!

Peterborough Lambretta Vespa Scooter Club 10th Anniversary
It's on June 23rd with camping, music, stalls etc and all for the princely sum of only £7! Gates open at 9am, so anyone wanting to go, meet at the Texaco garage on the Sandy A1 roundabout at 9am to ride up to what promises to be a great day and night!

Moped Mania
Yes it sounds like a chav's dream eh? However, Hertfordshire police and the council are holding this event at Fairland Valley Lakes in Stevenage by way of encouraging young un's to be less anti social by pushing the safety message both gear wise and behaviour wise. There will be a motorcycle simulator, stalls, clubs, a mechanic to discuss issues etc and the NHSC are supporting it too, so if you want to come along, see what it's all about, buy some gear on the day and see if you can turn some young un's towards the scootering way of life then come along on Sunday 24th June from 11am.

Henlow Village Fete
Thanks to those that turned up and did the Pilgrims proud last Saturday. It's a small village fete and I think that the scooters drew a lot of attention, the vicar was especially pleased.

Sandy Scooters Open Day
As many of you will know by now, Sandy Scooters is under new ownership. There's no major changes planned, the best mechanic for miles is still there and prices will continue to be competitive. By way of celebration / advertising etc there will be an open day on Sunday 8th July from 11.30am. There will be some music, a BBQ, refreshments etc as well as bargains and special deals on the day.
Also if you have anything that you want to sell to other scooterists you're welcome to bring a little jumble with you but remember that there are space restrictions.
