Regular
Rides
Well done to all that made March's Regular ride to the VMSC show at Coventry. It was the best day of the year weatherwise and probably scooter wise so far! Mind you I know that there was at least a couple of problems, one puncture and one minor off. Apparantly one Basil Fawlty was seen kicking a blue T5 in a petrol station!
April's ride is going to be this Sunday the 13th departing the Piazza at 11.30am, well maybe 12, we'll see how many are ready at 11.30. Where are we going? Well we are going to The Anchor Lodge, Tempsford which is just north of Sandy on the A1. Remember, Double Points!!
I doth my cap...
... to those marvellous men in their flying machines. Well, scooters anyway. Yes I'm talking to all those scooterists from our region that went to Great Yarmouth at the Easter Bank Holiday weekend braving the wind and the snow!! Hell, several scooters even suffered from carb icing on the way back Monday morning, you don't generally hear of that outside of big hairy grebo bikes do you Mik?
The Pilgrims Run to the Races.
Well, despite planning etc and a word with him upstairs the weather was cack with a capital K and the trip was abandoned. On saying that I have since discovered that one of the first races resulted in an oil spillage on the track and despite the organisers doing their best the whole day was called off on safety grounds anyway. So looks like in some way, the gods were smiling on scooters that day.
VMSC Coventry Custom Show and Parts Fair.
By 'eck March was a busy scooter month eh? There was a great turnout for this one, up the A5 to Ryton On Dunsmore near Coventry for the annual VMSC show where you can see scooters other than just Lambretta's and Vespa's! That alone makes it worth the trip, but it was a great old day out with unseasonably warm sunshine and, as mentioned up there at the top there were a couple of thankfully minor incidents resulting in no injuries, other than to pride.

Cottenham Yesteryear Run
Sunday 20th April sees a yesteryear run from Cottenham (just north of Cambridge) around 4 or 5 local villages in aid of MAGPAS, a charity that helps out the Paramedic service. Anyone that wants to go you'll need to be there before 9am on the day to sign in, it cost £6 with profits to the charity, you'll need your insurance documents with you and apparantly they lay on a lunch afterwards. I'm leaving this one to ye if you want to do it.
Pilgrims League Table for 2008
Remember if you want to join in the craic let Donnie know, the emails at the bottom of the newsletter.
On the subject of the League Table
There have already been some changes to how this years table is run thanks to some very good points brought up by members and non members alike. One of the major changes was the removal of the rule which docked you points if you had to fettle. Another, effective immediately and no backdating, is that all Double Point events require you to leave the Piazza. If however you still attend the event in question you can claim normal points. e.g. If you leave the Piazza you get 10 points (without a banner), however, if you meet up on the way or meet at the destination you'll get 5 points. For all normal events, you'll get normal points whether you leave the piazza or not.
Another Do at the Pad - Sunday 4th May
Some of you will remember the do between Crimbo and New Year that Greg organised for the club which was a great hit on the night. Well guess what, he's organising another similar night. Again £5 on the door and something to do on Bank Holiday and not worry about getting up for work on the Monday
