January 2008
Welcome back to Scootering in 2008
...and may it be even better, if possible, than 2007. I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year but it's already time to get planning for the coming years rallies and other scootering events.
Regular
Rides
December's ride was to Peanut Duck, which is now ages ago way before Christmas, but there was a bit of an impromptu rideout organised by Greg to The Greyhound at Haynes which was well attended, though poor Gregs Flywheel decided it didn't want to go round anymore and he ended up getting there on 4 wheels, still, making the efforts what's important. Fair Play.
January will pass off without any official rideout I'm afraid due to time restrictions unless anyone else wants to organise another impromptu one, so keep your eyes and ears peeled!
The Do at the Pad
Many will be aware that there was a do at The Pad in Bedford between Christmas and New Year which went very well! A great night was had be all and I believe that there was about £200 profit made on the night which was excellent!! The question is, what to do with the money? Ideas and suggestions welcome. Also, Greg did a lot of hard work organising this so a big thanks to him for that, but also a very big thanks to all the DJ's that played and or offered to play on the night, including: Waldo, Little Dave, Craig, Simon, and others whose names I've forgotten but their contribution is no less for it.
Great Yarmouth National Rally
Oh yes, people are already planning this one and it's not until the Easter Bank Holiday which is 21-24th March.
So, if you want to go, ask around and see who else is going as it's likely that they've already booked up and apparently B&B's are selling out fast! |
Sandy Scooters BBQ & Open Day
Also between the Christmas and New Year period Sandy Scooters held a BBQ and Open Day which was very well attended by scooterists from miles around, including Luton, Northampton, Aylesbury, Bedford, Cambridge etc. A big thanks to all that attended but special thanks to Justin and Family for manning the BBQ and making the delicious Chile!
Scooterboy World Party Number 2
Saturday 2nd February sees the second of these at Roade, Northants, where there will be a bar open from mid afternoon, music will be on from about 6pm until about 1am, camping for those brave enough. There is also a Scootercross planned in the afternoon!! Could be fun!
Pilgrims League Table for 2008
Okay, bit difficult this one, but I'm debating whether or not to do this again for 2008. The issues are basically time constraints and finding a way to accurately keep the points. So there are basically 2 choices as I see it, either not have one, or strictly enforce the rules on proof, ie photographic. I'll start a discussion on the club forums, with a poll to decide but it'll have to be finished for the end of January at the latest.
