June 2009

Monthly Ride
Last month's ride was the ICR hosted by Banbury SC who did a great job on the rideout and probably made the right decision to go to the back up pub where we could all dry off due to the weather. It was that or go to The Castle and stand out in the rain.

Again, it was well supported by many of the local clubs incuding the Pilgrims, WKFASC, NLVSC, Doughboys SC, Strangetown SC, Red Kites SC, Borderline Allstars and others I'm bound to have forgotton.

This month's is this Sunday for the Abscond to the Pond Run, which is the 3rd of these now yearly events hosted by the Rhoodmen of Rutland SC. This day has music, mates, ridden custom show and more! The Pilgrims will be riding to the meet at Rutland Water i.e. going direct rather than up to Melton Mowbray and then doubling back so we will be leaving from the Piazza in Bedford at 10.00am and taking a scenic route via Higham Ferrers, Corby, Uppingham and round the north side of Rutland. So remember, Piazza, 10am, fuelled up.

Inter-County Rides for June & July
Well reports of the June one are good with an alldayer event at Wilby, Northants which consisted of a custom show and music, with over £800 raised for charity! Also, our own Dodge won Best Lambretta in the Custom Show!! Congratulations!

July's ICR is back on a Sunday which is July 19th, details to follow!

The Pilgrims Did Kelso '09
What a cracker! None of the 7 that made it had done it and all said that they'll do it again! Bloody shame that Robbo's scooter decided that after a night out in Pontefract that it wasn't prepared to go any further north though :-(

Still the rest of us cracked on the next morning and once off the A1 it was a bloody hard or bloody good ride depending on how you viewed the roads with the gradients and hairpins especially the ones with running water across them!

Kelso itself was a great venue, a bit like Mersea Island with better facilities and a town only half a mile away with great pubs and places to eat or shop. As for the rally, bleeding great again, good music, bands, showers, weather, everything, definitely a goer for next year again!!

All Dayer in London - the Kelso Alternative.
Strangely, I'm led to believe that there were more breakdowns going the 80 mile round trip to London than there was on the 650 miles on the Kelso run!! Oh, and then there's the parking ticket problems, currently being challenged I'm told. Still it was a great day and congrats to Craig from the Hooters SC for winning best Mod Scooter!!

League Table
Looks like someone took my advice and has knocked SBS off the top spot for the first time in 6 months!!!! There's a new leader in town :-)
