March 2009

Monthly Ride
Last Month's Ride was the Inter-County Rideout to the Obelisk at Northampton and despite the recent snow, much of which had cleared off the roads, it was a great turnout from the Pilgrims with more than 20 leaving the square and hardly any of us missing the turn for the Super Sausage on the A5 where everyone was meeting up.

Great turnout there too with clubs represented from far and wide!

This month however, it's the Pilgrims turn to host and we're off to Henlow, in fact, this coming Sunday. As poor old Donnie has so much time on his hands, he's deciding on the route, so this could either be the wee country lanes the back way into Henlow or perhaps the normal wider roads there. Both have their goods and bads about them but he'll be letting the marshalls know so we don't get lost.

The Inter-County Rides
As some of you will be aware, there have already been 2 of these, the first in January to see the Aylesbury SC, the second last month as mentioned above.
The idea of these is to promote a bit more interaction between the local clubs and of course have the odd knees up along the way.
Yes it's hard when you've never met people before when you turn up at meets, and yes people tend to stay in their groups a bit, but as time goes on and faces become more and more familiar then before you know it we'll all be living out of each others clubs, so to speak.

The Pilgrims Do Kelso '09
Right chaps and chapesses, Kelso will be upon us relatively soon and Greg and Donnie will be after deposits if you are coming with us up the A1 on the Thursday evening.

The plan is to head oop norf at 4pm Thursday from the Black Cat Roundabout, get to Pontefract and stay in a travelodge. Then onwards and upwards to Kelso on the Friday.

There's a possible run to Edinburgh on the Saturday, then Sunday head dawn sawrf to a travelodge in Harrogate and Monday the last leg home.

The non refundable £20 deposits will be taken from the Henlow meet (Thursday 12th March) and must be in to either Donnie or Greg by March 31st. Cash only.

This will allow us to book enough space with enough time we hope before the prices of the rooms skyrocket!

Wicksteed Parts Fair.
That was a cracker. Ok, I didn't buy anything other than one pint, gits wanted £3.20 for a can of Guinness!, and I was pleased I got in for £3 not a fiver due to my LCGB card, but there wasn't a huge amount to really see there other than mates.
The ride tends to be the best thing on scootering events but it was a pleasant enough way to spend a few hours looking about at the stalls and the second hand bits. Mind you, I do get annoyed at seeing stall holders selling illegal Non E marked tyres, or second hand gear selectors that are knackered!!

League Table
It would appear that at the time of going to press that ScooterBoy Steve is heading up the pack!
