January 2005

Happy New Year to one and all. It looks like it could be a busy old year for The Pilgrims with many talking about doing several rallies as well as talk of resurrecting the monthly Sunday Pub Runs. So watch this space!

Potential Rallies
Well, technically we're not even at the start of the season yet so many may think that it's a bit early to think of such things, however, the first season rally is only six or seven weeks away at Whitby! Of course we have all the usual suspects too, such as Run to the Shires, Camber Sands, the IOW, Mersea Island and Hembsy! So get saving and get chatting to see who else is thinking about going!

Got the Runs?
Of course, there are the shorter more local runs to contend with also. That is, your parts fairs such as Wicksteed and Peanut Duck and then there's the Sunday Pub Runs. It is planned that we will be doing a run of some sort once a month during the year, although it's probably short notice to have one for January and it's probably too cold for some of the old timers. (Ducks and runs for cover) So, keep an eye out for these in the newsletter and the website.

Change to Thursday Nights
Paul from the White Horse (1st Thursday Night Meets) is no longer there due, I believe, to the brewery being a bit of a pain. There was not much of a turnout this month, granted its the middle of winter, so the next 1st Thursday meet is set to be at The Fox and Hounds. This pub is the big yellow one on Goldington Road and is literally a quarter mile from the White Horse.

Making a U turn..
... and going back to the subject of rallies. There's been lots of talk about a Pilgrims rally or overnighter in the summer. Now this sounds great, but the organisation of it would be tremendous to say the least, however, what if there was already a 3 day event, with camping facilities already happening on say the 29th, 30th and 31st of July this year right on our own doorstep?

Yes, that's right, a 3 day event at Badfest, Twinwoods Arena in Clapham, where Bad Manners are playing and guest Djs such as Mark Lamarr, all for £45 if booking early! Who's up for that?

Keeping in Touch
Just a reminder that the club has a website at www.thepilgrimssc.co.uk where members can keep in touch with what's happening and even make suggestions on what we could do this coming year.

Its a bit of a short newsletter this month I'm afraid so, on signing off, if anyone happens to have any parts, such as a seat for a Zundapp bella, can you let Donegal know?
